Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Why does the branding on the hardware display "Ricoh" instead of "Fujitsu"?
Fujitsu's scanner division was fully acquired by Ricoh. Models in the fi-8000 series transitioned to Ricoh branding, but they retain the exact same proprietary hardware design, build quality, and PaperStream IP software compatibility.
  • What is the primary difference between the Fujitsu fi-8170 and this fi-8270 model?
The fi-8270 features a large, integrated flatbed glass platen attached underneath the high-speed automatic document feeder. This permits you to manually scan thick books, bound booklets, passport folders, legal certificates, or highly fragile media that cannot pass through an automated roller path.
  • Does the Intelligent Sonic Paper Protection (iSOP) system function during flatbed scans?
No. The iSOP acoustic sensor hardware is built exclusively into the mechanical ADF paper path to listen for page wrinkles or crunches during batch scanning. It is bypassed completely during manual, single-page flatbed glass operations.
